In the same conditions, with linux mint 14, file transfer works fine, faster than 60MB/s from the start to the end without 'resting'. So for the past few months I have been having an issue where my upload speeds will randomly drop to almost nonexistent levels which is very frustrating because I play very latency precise games and also stream video to, which also happens to be a decent source of income for me.
If I plug a USB 2.0 device to them, file transfer works fine (obviously not at usb 3.0 speed, but at least it's not intermittent).īios and all the drivers are up to date (according to HP support assistant). It copies for a while, then it stops and transfer speed drops to 0 for some time, then it goes on again, it transfers a bit and stops, and so on, like this:Īnd at the end of the day copy is slower than with usb 2. When I plug it to the USB 2 port it works fine, bot if I try transfering files onto it from my notebook connecting it with the external HD through USB 3.0 it goes intermittently.
Since a couple of months I have an external HD: it's an Buffalo HD-LBU3 with usb 3. I Have a Pavilion dv6 7090el over which I installed Windows 8 64bit (there was 7 as I bought it).
